GMA visits ‘tent cities’ today

LEGAZPI CITY—PRESIDENT MACAPA-gal-Arroyo will visit today the Anislag resettlement site in Daraga, Albay, where displaced survivors still reside in tent cities as they await for the turnover of houses being built by various nongovernment organizations, like the Gawad Kalinga and the Daughters of Charity, in the same site.

The President will turnover initially 61 core shelter units worth P470,000.

A total of 201 core shelter units worth P40 million will be turned over by the Department of Social Welfare and Development under the government’s Calamity Assistance Rehabilitation Effort.

Beneficiaries are resettled typhoon survivors from Barangay Binitayan, Daraga, Albay.

Ms Arroyo is also expected to give P300,000 livelihood assistance to organized groups in the resettlement area. Ephraim Aguilar, Inquirer Southern Luzon
