Massacre victim was ‘pregnant’

10 November 2006

LEGAZPI CITY—“MY SISTER WAS four months pregnant when she was killed. I couldn’t explain the pain of losing her. When we saw her with pierced wounds all over the body and with her eyes gone, we could not accept what [the perpetrators] did to her,” a sobbing Gloria Vera, 45, said of the murder of her sister Marlyn in Camalig, Albay.

Marlyn was among the family of six that was hacked, shot, beaten and pierced with sharpened bamboo poles to death in Barangay Tumpa in Camalig town on All Souls’ Day.

Following the surrender of two suspects, Pedro Nopia and Romy Palivino, last Tuesday, another suspect identified as Willy Nasol surrendered around 10 a.m. yesterday; a few hours later, another suspect, Jose Nopia Jr., was captured by Albay police.
